FAQs
Delta Equinox is formulated to exclude the ingredients most commonly reported as triggers for sensitive digestion: no soy or sunflower lecithin, no inulin or chicory root fibre, no sugar alcohols, no dairy, no 'natural flavours' of unspecified origin, and no PGPR. Individual tolerance varies. Bantu Chocolate is a food, not a medical treatment. We recommend introducing gradually and consulting your gastroenterologist or dietitian if you have an active diagnosis.
The two bars inside Delta Equinox, Noire 73% and Black Earl 60%, are made from ingredients that are low-FODMAP at typical serving sizes. Monash University lists 30g of dark chocolate as low-FODMAP. Each Delta Equinox mini bar is 30g, sized to match this guidance. Delta Equinox is not independently Monash-certified, so we describe it as low-FODMAP compatible rather than certified.
Because 'premium' and 'clean ingredient' rarely mean the same thing on a chocolate label. Even bars marketed as bean-to-bar routinely include soy lecithin (an emulsifier under increasing scrutiny for its effect on the gut lining), inulin or chicory root (a fermentable FODMAP added for fibre), and 'natural flavours' whose composition is proprietary. Delta Equinox removes all three. Turn any Bantu Chocolate bar over, the ingredient list is short enough to read in one breath.
Six mini bars weighing 30g each: 3 x Noire (73% single-origin dark chocolate) and 3 x Black Earl (organic Earl Grey infused dark chocolate). Ingredients are limited to organic cacao, cocoa butter, organic coconut blossom sugar in Noire, raw organic cane sugar in Black Earl, and whole organic Earl Grey tea leaves in Black Earl only. Nothing else.
The formulation contains no fermentable fibres or sugar alcohols, the most common SIBO triggers in commercial chocolate. Cacao is not on standard low-histamine lists, though sensitivity varies individually. Black Earl contains bergamot oil in trace amounts from the Earl Grey infusion. If you follow a strict elimination protocol, start with Noire.
Delta Equinox contains no ingredients unsafe for pregnancy in typical serving sizes. Dark chocolate contains caffeine (approximately 12mg per 30g Noire 73% mini bar) and theobromine. NHS guidance recommends limiting caffeine to 200mg per day during pregnancy. Black Earl contains additional caffeine from the Earl Grey infusion. Consult your midwife or GP for personalised advice.
The gut-brain axis describes the two-way communication between the digestive system and the central nervous system, mediated partly by the gut microbiome. Research in this area has moved from academic niche to mainstream over the past decade, with growing interest in how digestive health influences mood, cognition and immunity. Delta Equinox does not claim to modify your microbiome. What it does is remove the emulsifiers and fermentable additives that many people with sensitive digestion find disruptive.
Two things. First, radical ingredient minimalism designed around the gut-health community's actual trigger list rather than generic 'free-from' labelling. Second, single-estate provenance: every bean comes from one family-owned agroforestry farm in Cameroon, so the flavour is consistent bar to bar and the supply chain fits in one sentence.
