Price ComparisonSUN is a date caramel and peanut butter bar coated in single-origin dark chocolate from our Cameroon estate. The caramel is made from blended Medjool dates rather than glucose syrup, dates develop deep toffee and butterscotch notes when processed, which is why the result reads as caramel rather than as fruit. The filling is fresh-roasted peanut butter, not a palm oil compound. Most people cannot tell the difference in a blind taste. What differs is what comes with it: fibre, potassium and magnesium instead of refined sugar.
Is it healthier than a conventional candy bar?
It is made from whole foods rather than refined ones: Medjool dates instead of glucose syrup, fresh-roasted peanut butter instead of palm oil filling, real dark chocolate instead of compound coating. It carries more fibre and protein and less refined sugar than a typical confectionery bar. It is still an energy-dense snack. We would rather describe it as a better-built indulgence than as health food.
Will it cause a sugar crash?
The sugars in SUN arrive primarily from whole Medjool dates, which bring their own fibre with them. Combined with the fat and protein in the peanut butter, that slows digestion relative to refined sugar eaten alone. Many customers report steadier energy than from a conventional bar. Individual responses to any food vary, particularly for anyone managing blood glucose.
When people actually eat it
Four moments customers return to: the three o'clock slump when a candy bar craving arrives; within forty-five minutes of a workout, where natural carbohydrates and peanut protein support recovery; as a late-evening sweet without refined sugar; and in a bag or glovebox as a snack that survives the journey.
Grown, not bought
The chocolate coating is made from cacao harvested, fermented and sun-dried on an agroforestry estate our family owns in Cameroon. The people who grow it are our employees, on a wage benchmarked to the Anker Living Wage for rural Cameroon: 135,729 CFA a month, about £176 / $180. Most brands buy beans and pay a premium. A premium is a bonus on a good harvest. A wage is what you owe someone in a bad one.

FAQs
Date caramel is made by blending Medjool dates into a smooth, thick paste. Dates are naturally sweet and develop deep toffee and butterscotch notes when processed, which is why the result reads as caramel rather than as fruit. Most people cannot tell the difference in a blind taste. What differs is what comes with it: fibre, potassium and magnesium, rather than refined sugar and glucose syrup.
SUN is made from whole foods rather than refined ingredients: Medjool dates instead of glucose syrup, fresh-roasted peanut butter instead of palm oil filling, single-origin dark chocolate instead of compound coating. It contains more fibre and protein and less refined sugar than a typical confectionery bar. It is still an energy-dense snack, and we would rather describe it as a better-built indulgence than as health food.
The sugars in SUN come primarily from whole Medjool dates, which arrive alongside their natural fibre. Combined with the fat and protein in the peanut butter, this slows digestion compared to refined sugar eaten alone. Many customers report it as steadier energy than a conventional bar. Individual responses to any food vary, particularly for people managing blood glucose.
Four moments customers consistently return to: the 3pm slump when a candy bar craving arrives; within 45 minutes after a workout, where the natural carbohydrates and peanut protein support recovery; as a late-evening sweet without the refined sugar; and in the car or bag as a road-trip snack that does not melt into a mess.
SUN contains peanuts as a core ingredient and is not suitable for anyone with a peanut allergy. It is also produced in a facility handling tree nuts. If you need a nut-free option, Noire 73%, Voodoo 83% and Black Earl 60% contain no nut inclusions, though shared equipment means trace contamination is possible.
Yes. The caramel is sweetened with whole Medjool dates and the chocolate coating with organic coconut blossom sugar, which is made by evaporating palm sap rather than by refining cane. Neither is a refined sugar. We would rather be clear about what that does and does not mean: SUN still contains sugar, because dates contain sugar and coconut blossom sugar is sugar. What it does not contain is glucose syrup, invert sugar, refined cane, or any of the sweeteners that make a conventional candy bar cheap to produce.
Yes, provided there is no peanut or tree nut allergy. It contains no artificial colours, flavours, preservatives or palm oil, and the sweetness comes largely from whole dates. It does contain naturally occurring caffeine and theobromine from the cacao, though less than our higher-percentage dark bars.
Medjool date caramel, roasted peanut butter, and single-origin dark chocolate from our family-owned estate in Cameroon, finished with sea salt. The texture is deliberately layered: chewy caramel, crunchy peanut, smooth chocolate.
